On this morning's show, Jay and I were chatting off-air for a moment and the topic of ink for ink-jet printers came up.
Why in God's name is this stuff so expensive?
They put out cheap printers - I mean it's amazing what you can buy these days for about $100 bucks. For that price, you'll get a printer, copier, photo printer, and even a fax. Buy it and they'll even throw in a free color and black & white ink cartridge.
Yep, the first one's "free".
But, let's face it: they're just trying to get you hooked. The printer companies are like drug dealers: "Go ahead little boy - take the free ink cartridge with the cheap printer. It'll make you feel - goooood. Yeah, real good. You like printing, don't you? Mmmmm...."
I use so much damn ink preparing for our show, I wish I could just get an ink utility line run to my house like I have electricity from Entergy and cable from Comcast.
That would solve all my ink problems. Just run a Goddamn line right from HP's warehouse directly into my freakin' printer - THEN stick a meter on it!
The only part of this that makes me feel any better is knowing that ink is one costly resource we seem to have a lot of it. The Middle East may have oil but damn if we don't have ink. Wanna finish printing your suicide note Mr. Jihadist? Suck it. First buy a new cartridge of black ink from Canon.
