Muslim's Are High Maintenance

They have to face East when they pray, women have to wear burkas and certain length clothing, no expressions of sexuality in public, die as a martyr and get 72 virgins...

72 freakin' virgins!? Do you have any idea what kind of resources it takes to keep that many women chaste?!

Christians and Jews just the opposite. They are so LOW maintenance, they're almost on autopilot! When a Catholic guy commits a sin all he has to do is confess to a priest and poof: it's cool. He doesn't even have to actually confess it to God or anything. Just a middleman because the Christian God likes to delegate.

And for Jews, it's even easier. A Jew breaks a rule, say, by not observing the Sabbath and what happens? Nothing except self-imposed GUILT. That's it! No confessing to a middleman, no informing the Supreme Being. Just go home and feel badly about not keeping the Sabbath holy. Talk about the ultimate in streamlined religion!

Don't get me wrong: I'm a big fan of religion because it's very reassuring to believe there is something more to life besides fast food, cell phones, and taxes. But, the problem with religion in general are all the rules men have made up to keep everyone in line. Yes, much of religion is man made.

It's a little hard to imagine that an entity that created the Universe would actually demean the whole process by writing post-it notes full of rules. Sure, he gave Moses that one famous Top 10 List, but we have to take Moses' word for that, don't we?

Look: some rules are okay - but it would be great if they didn't get in the way of the what God really is all about: a personal spirituality which brings you comfort.
